EXTERNAL HDD SLOW SPEED SOLUTION

My external drive transfer rate was exrtemely slow. It was around 100kbps-500kbps. I changed its data cable but still its slow. I recently found out how to fix this kind of problem.

Do this first:

1. Change the data cable. This could be the reason why your external hdd is slow in transferring data.
2. Optimize USB Drive Performance.
2.1.Right click on the USB drive and select properties
           2.2.Select the Hardware tab .
2.3.Under All Disk Drives, highlight your USB drive and select Properties .
2.4.Select the Policies tab and select Optimize for performance.
2.5.Press OK twice, and your transfer speeds should increase dramatically .
Note that when your drive is optimized for performance you'll need to use the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the taskbar to eject the drive - otherwise you'll risk corrupting your data by just removing the drive from the port.

If the above solutions didn't work for you, then you may try this:

(This worked on my External HDD)
PROCEDURE:

1. Right click on your External HDD and click Format.

2. Choose NTFS as File System.

3. Choose 64 kilobytes for Allocation Unit Size.

4. Choose Quick Format.

5. Click Start.

Your External HDD transfer speed should increase after doing this. But if not, you're sorry. LOL! :D
